Mama Goes Live!

If you know anything about me, you are not surprised to be indulging me as you are at this very moment.  If you do not know me, I will confess to you that putting myself and my mama life on the record, comes with a lot of thought and an insane amount of balls.  Excuse me—a lot of courage.

By the time I could buy my own wine and gamble in Vegas, I found out that I was very pregnant and very much having a baby at the age of 22.  My boyfriend and I decided to take the plunge into the crazy world of parenthood we knew little about, with our hands clenched tightly and our hearts wide open.  The Summer of '08 brought us the greatest love conceivable, Noah.   I turned in my single nights to the gods up above, in return for baby gym classes on Saturday mornings.  And as life would have it, just six months ago we welcomed another baby boy into our mad little world, Jacob.

Because two is better than one.
As you could imagine, my story is and continues to be crazy and beautiful.

Since jumping into the worlwind of poop diapers, baby vomit and sleepless nights, there has been one thing keeping me sane along the way: the sorority of mommies.  I have continued to find comfort in fellow mamas' stories by way of conversation, social networks and yes, blogs.  From the moment I discovered I'd be bringing life into my own, I sought for reassurance and found it through other women's writing about it.  Which brings me here.

I am two things if nothing else: a mother and a writer.  Join me in this journey I call motherhood, as I share with you what other real women have shared with me; that we are not alone in our crazy lives.  Somewhere else out there, a mama is also working 9-5, packing lunch and snacks while pumping breast milk, making chocolate birthday cupcakes with The Avengers flags for a preschool class of 30,scrubbing 3 hours worth of outside play from toddler's knees and kissing her babies goodnight.  With her shirt on backwards.

Cheers to these mementos!
